
A 60-year-old man, named locally as Jim Wylie, has died following a two-vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle in Ballymena on Monday morning, 13 April 2026. Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dash-cam or other digital footage to come forward.
A motorcyclist has sadly died following a serious road traffic collision in Ballymena on Monday morning.
The collision happened in the Crankill Road area at the junction with Tullygrawley Road at around 10.25am on Monday, 13 April 2026, and involved a car and a motorcycle. Police later confirmed the man who died was 60-year-old Jim Wylie from the local area.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland said officers attended the scene alongside other emergency services. Sadly, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. Police also confirmed that the road was closed for a time following the incident, but has since fully reopened to traffic.
Detective Inspector Stewart from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit said the force is continuing its enquiries into the circumstances of the crash.
Police are now appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant digital footage, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 376 13/04/26.
The incident has caused shock in the local community, with tributes beginning to appear online following confirmation of Mr Wylie’s death. Police enquiries remain ongoing as investigators work to establish exactly what happened.
