Harry’s Barbershop Golf Society has launched, bringing together local golfers for regular society days, great courses, friendly competition, and good craic. The society was originally known as Harry’s Barbershop Highhandicap Golf Society, but “Highhandicap” was removed because the group is now open to golfers of all abilities.
Harry’s Barbershop Golf Society has officially launched, offering local golfers a fresh way to enjoy the game in a relaxed, social, and well-organised setting.
The society has grown from a small group of friends meeting once a month to play different courses into a wider local golf society based around the community at Harry’s Barbershop.
With interest already building, the group is becoming a popular meet-up for golfers who enjoy good courses, friendly rivalry, and a bit of craic along the way.
The idea behind Harry’s Barbershop Golf Society came from a small group of friends who simply enjoyed getting out for a round together.
Around three years ago, Barry, Pete and Harry began meeting once a month to play different golf courses. A year later, Connor M joined the group, turning it into a regular monthly four-ball.
The format worked well. It was relaxed, easy to organise, and gave everyone something to look forward to each month.
The idea grew further through conversations in Harry’s Barbershop. JT mentioned that he wanted to get back into golf after playing at Greenisland as a junior, having not played for many years.
After Harry and JT got a few games together, they realised that many of their clients also played golf or had an interest in taking it up again.
From there, the idea of a proper society began to take shape.
In March 2026, Harry’s Barbershop Golf Society was officially born.
While the society brings people together to play different courses, the aim is not just about golf.
Harry’s Barbershop Golf Society has also been set up to support positive mental health in a simple and practical way. Golf gives people a reason to get outside, stay active, talk to others, and enjoy regular social contact.
For some, joining a golf society can be the push they need to meet new people. For others, it can be a regular break from work, stress, or day-to-day pressures.
The society is designed to be welcoming, relaxed, and open. You do not need to be a low-handicap golfer to get involved. You just need to enjoy the game and want to be part of a good local group.
Harry’s Barbershop Golf Society is now open to new members, with interest already building since its launch.
According to the society page, more than 25 golfers have already shown interest, with limited spaces available. People can register online or speak directly with Harry or JT through Harry’s Barbershop.
“Golf, good company, and a reason to get out for the day.”
Greenisland Golf Society is now up and running, and spaces are expected to be limited.
Those interested in joining can register through the official society page or call into Harry’s Barbershop in Greenisland for more information.
