Woman dies following two-vehicle collision

An 85-year-old woman from the Macosquin area has died following a two-vehicle collision on Windyhill Road in Coleraine. Police have named her as Maud Kerr. A man aged in his 80s remains in hospital in a stable condition.

An 85-year-old woman has died following a collision in Coleraine on Saturday afternoon, 12 September.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has named the woman as Maud Kerr, from the Macosquin area.

The two-vehicle collision happened on Windyhill Road at approximately 12.30pm.

Maud Kerr died at the scene of Coleraine collision

Police officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from other emergency services following reports of the collision.

Despite efforts at the scene, Mrs Kerr died.

A man aged in his 80s was also involved and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

Windyhill Road was closed for a period while emergency services dealt with the incident and police carried out enquiries. It has since fully reopened.

Police appeal after fatal Coleraine collision

Detective Inspector Stewart, from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit, said officers received the report at approximately 12.30pm.

He appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash-cam or other footage from the area, to come forward.

Investigation into Coleraine collision continues

The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation by the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit.
