Mid Ulster District Council Seeks Public Views on 2026–2027 Improvement Objectives

Mid Ulster District Council is asking residents to give feedback on its proposed improvement objectives for 2026–2027. The consultation focuses on improving customer experience, supporting opportunities for young people, and reducing the Council’s carbon emissions. Residents can share their views online or through local council offices until 12 noon on Friday 24 April 2026.

Residents Invited to Shape Mid Ulster’s Future Priorities

Mid Ulster District Council is inviting residents to take part in a public consultation to help shape its Corporate Improvement Objectives for the 2026–2027 financial year.

The council says the consultation is part of its ongoing commitment to improving services and ensuring local priorities reflect the needs of the community.

Residents, businesses and community groups are encouraged to review the proposed objectives and provide feedback before the consultation closes.

Three Key Improvement Objectives for 2026–2027

According to the council, the proposed improvement plan focuses on three major areas:

1. Improving Customer Experience

The council aims to improve how residents interact with council services by:

  • Embedding a customer-focused culture
  • Making services easier to access
  • Ensuring residents are placed at the centre of decision-making

2. Opportunities for Children and Young People

The council also plans to expand opportunities that support young people across the district. This includes:

  • Encouraging skills development
  • Promoting physical activity
  • Supporting community participation

The aim is to create more inclusive programmes that allow children and young people to engage positively with their communities.

3. Reducing Carbon Emissions

A further objective focuses on environmental responsibility. The council has committed to:

  • Reducing its carbon emissions
  • Implementing its sustainability strategy
  • Delivering actions outlined in its climate action plan

These measures are designed to help address climate challenges while supporting long-term sustainability across the district.

Councillor Encourages Public Participation

Chair of the Policy and Resources Committee, Councillor Eva Cahoon, is urging residents to share their views.

She said the proposed objectives focus on areas that matter most to the community now and into the future.

Feedback received during the consultation will help the council refine its plans and ensure services reflect the needs of residents across Mid Ulster.
