A 40-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the disappearance and murder of Lisa Dorrian, almost 21 years after she was last seen alive.
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland Major Investigation Team confirmed the arrest was made in Bangor on Wednesday 25 February.
Arrest Made in Bangor
Police said the woman was arrested on suspicion of:
- Murder
- Assisting offenders
- Withholding information
- Preventing a lawful and decent burial
She remains in police custody at this time.
The development comes just days before the 21st anniversary of Lisa Dorrian’s disappearance.
Disappearance in Ballyhalbert
Detective Chief Inspector Kerrie Foreman said Lisa was last seen alive on the night of Sunday 27 February 2005 in Ballyhalbert, County Down.
Police believe she was murdered either that night or in the early hours of the following morning.
Despite extensive investigations over the past two decades, Lisa’s body has never been recovered.
Ongoing Appeal for Information
DCI Foreman said officers remain determined to secure justice for Lisa’s family.
She renewed an appeal for information, urging anyone with details about Lisa’s disappearance or murder to contact detectives on 101.
