Two men arrested after man suffers multiple stab wounds in south Belfast

Two men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man suffered multiple puncture wounds during a reported stabbing in the Fitzroy Avenue area of south Belfast. His injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening.

Police have arrested two men following a stabbing in south Belfast which left another man with multiple puncture wounds to his chest and neck.

The incident was reported in the Fitzroy Avenue area at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, 12 August.

Man suffered wounds to chest and neck

Detective Inspector Harvey said officers responded after receiving a report that a man had been stabbed.

Police said the injured man suffered multiple puncture wounds to his chest and neck and was also bleeding from his left ear.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

At this stage, police say his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two men arrested following south Belfast stabbing

A man aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

A second man, also aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of:

• Attempted murder
• Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place
• Theft

Both men remained in police custody on Thursday morning, 13 August, while enquiries continued.
