An axe was used in a violent aggravated burglary

Police in Derry/Londonderry are investigating a violent aggravated burglary that occurred in the Waterside neighborhood during the early hours of Friday, December 6th.

A masked man reportedly forced his way into a home on Caw Close at around 1:45am, armed with an axe. The suspect attempted to enter a bedroom but was prevented by a man inside the room who blocked the door. A masked woman then entered the house and left with the masked man a short time later.

The male suspect is described as being around 6′ tall, with dark hair, and wearing a dark-colored hooded top and dark bottoms, as well as sunglasses. The female suspect is described as being around 5’2″ tall, with dark hair that was tied up, and wearing a navy hooded top and possibly dark-colored jeans.

No physical injuries were reported by the male occupant, a woman, and a male teenager who were in the property at the time, but they were left shaken by the terrifying ordeal. The suspects fled the scene in different directions, with the male suspect heading towards Nelson Drive and the female suspect towards the country park.
