£150,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the attempted murder of John Caldwell

The Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team has shared fresh information about the attempted assassination of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell, according to reports on Wednesday, March 8. DCI Caldwell was shot on February 22 at a sports centre on Killyclogher Road in Omagh. Detective Chief Superintendent Eamonn Corrigan stated that he believed a second blue Ford Fiesta was used in the attempted murder, and that the vehicle was registered RLZ 9805. The car was bought in Glengormley toward the end of January, before being driven from Belfast on February 22 and burned out in the Ardboe Industrial Estate the following day.

To help catch those involved in the attempted murder of the senior police officer, Crimestoppers has increased the reward to £150,000 for information that leads to their arrest and conviction. In addition, new CCTV footage has been released of the first blue Ford Fiesta, registered MGZ 6242, travelling into Coalisland on the night of February 21, prior to the attack. The car was fitted with false plates, FRZ 8414, before the assault.
