Belfast Attack Victim Reportedly Survived Earlier Torture Ordeal In Scotland

A man reportedly injured in a serious knife attack in Belfast has been named in media reports as Stephen Ogilvie. The report claims he previously survived a brutal torture and abduction ordeal in Scotland more than two decades ago. A man has since appeared in court in connection with the Belfast incident.

Belfast Knife Attack Victim Named In Media Reports

A man reportedly injured in a serious Belfast knife attack has been named in media reports as Stephen Ogilvie, 44.

The incident happened in the Kinnaird Avenue area of north Belfast on Monday night, 8 June.

Police have confirmed that a man suffered serious injuries to his eyes, neck and back. A suspect has since appeared in court charged with attempted murder, possession of an article with a blade or point in a public place, and threats to kill.

As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Stephen Ogilvie Reportedly Survived Earlier Scotland Ordeal

According to media reports, Mr Ogilvie was previously the victim of a serious attack in Scotland in 2001.

The report states that he was held at a flat in Livingston and subjected to a violent ordeal involving a criminal gang linked to drug dealing.

The case later came before the High Court in Edinburgh, where a number of men were jailed for offences connected to the incident.

Gang Members Were Later Jailed

Court reports from the time stated that the gang had attempted to control parts of the local drugs trade in Scotland.

One man was jailed for 14 years in 2003, while others received prison sentences for related offences.

The judge in the case described the matter as an example of the serious harm connected with controlled drugs.

The recent Belfast attack has caused widespread concern across Northern Ireland.

Police have urged the public not to share graphic footage of the incident online. They have also appealed for calm while the investigation continues.
