
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has awarded £1 million to eight community organisations through its Strategic Capital Projects Grant Programme. The funding will support new sports facilities, community hubs, walkways, and accessibility improvements aimed at boosting health, wellbeing, and social connection across rural communities. Applications for the next round of grants open on 13 April 2026.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has awarded £1 million in grants to eight community and voluntary organisations across the district to improve facilities and strengthen rural communities.
The funding forms part of the Council’s five-year £5 million Strategic Capital Projects Grant Programme, which supports community-led developments designed to deliver long-term benefits for residents across the district’s rural areas.
The initiative recognises the important role that community organisations play in promoting health, wellbeing, social inclusion and community connection in towns and villages throughout Fermanagh and Omagh.
Eight projects have been awarded funding during the 2025–2026 funding round, supporting a wide range of infrastructure improvements and new facilities.
Omagh Lawn Tennis Club

This project will deliver an accessible multi-use walkway built with locally sourced materials and LED lighting to promote physical activity and social interaction for residents of all ages.

The grants were awarded following a competitive application process, where organisations were required to demonstrate match funding and obtain necessary approvals.
Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, praised the projects and their community impact.
He said the Council is committed to addressing the needs of rural communities and supporting projects that improve wellbeing and social inclusion.

Organisations interested in applying for the 2026–2027 Strategic Capital Projects Grant Programme should note that applications open on 13 April 2026.
Mandatory workshops for prospective applicants began on 2 March 2026, and groups are encouraged to begin preparing their proposals early.
