Man Arrested in Carrickfergus on Polish Extradition Warrant

Police in Ballymena have arrested a man in Carrickfergus as part of an international extradition operation. The 44-year-old is wanted in Poland to serve a sentence for multiple vehicle thefts linked to an organised crime gang, as well as a separate drugs offence.

The crimes were committed in the Krakow region of Poland in 2004. Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Local Policing Team detained the suspect on the night of Thursday, 7 August 2025.

He was arrested under a Polish extradition warrant and is scheduled to appear at Laganside Extradition Court later today.

International Police Cooperation

Constable Dynes from the PSNI’s International Policing Unit emphasised the ongoing commitment to tracking down fugitives:

“We continue to work with our international partners to identify and arrest those wanted in other jurisdictions. If fugitives travel to Northern Ireland to avoid the consequences of their previous crimes, it is only a matter of time before they are arrested and brought before the extradition court.”
