A 55-year-old woman has been charged following a police investigation into an alleged breach of a lifetime reporting restriction connected to a recent high-profile court case. She is due before Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court on 24 August 2026.
Detectives investigating an alleged breach of anonymity in a high-profile court case have charged a woman to appear in court.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland said detectives from Newry Criminal Investigation Department were investigating an alleged breach of a lifetime ban on reporting the identity of alleged victims.
The 55-year-old woman was arrested in the Ballynahinch area on Tuesday, 28 July 2026.
Woman Due Before Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court
Police said the woman has been charged with breaching the lifetime reporting restriction.
She is due to appear before Downpatrick Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 August 2026.

As is standard procedure, the charge will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service for Northern Ireland.
