

Two men aged 19 and 22 have sustained serious injuries following a single-vehicle road traffic collision involving a red Volkswagen Jetta on the Katesbridge Road in Kinallen on Saturday afternoon. Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage as investigations continue.
Police are appealing for information following a serious road traffic collision in Kinallen, County Down, which left two young men in hospital with significant injuries.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:40pm on Saturday, 30 May, in the Katesbridge Road area.
According to police, the collision involved a red Volkswagen Jetta. Emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene.
The driver and passenger, aged 19 and 22, were both taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are believed to be serious.
The Katesbridge Road was closed for a period while emergency services dealt with the incident and investigators examined the scene. The road has since fully reopened to traffic.
Inspector Lawson said:
“At approximately 12.40pm on Saturday, 30th May police responded to a collision involving a red Volkswagen Jetta in the Katesbridge Road area.
Colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended, and the driver and passenger, two men aged 19 and 22, were both taken onward to hospital for treatment to injuries which are believed to be serious.
Our investigation is continuing, and anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened, or who may have captured any mobile or dash-cam footage, can contact 101, quoting reference number 729 of 30/05/2026.”
Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area around the time of the collision and may have footage that could assist their investigation.
