Shot Reported at Downpatrick Home as Detectives Appeal for Information

Detectives are appealing for information after a shot was reportedly fired at a house in Downpatrick on Monday night, 28 September.

Police said a woman heard a loud bang outside her home on Colmcille Road at around 9.45pm. A suspected strike mark was later found on a wall beside a kitchen window.

A man wearing a grey and black coat and blue trousers was reportedly seen leaving the area towards nearby fields.

Detectives Investigate Reported Shot Fired at Downpatrick House

Detectives have launched an investigation following a report that a shot was fired at a house in Downpatrick on Monday, 28 September.

The incident happened at a property on Colmcille Road at around 9.45pm.

According to police, the female householder heard a loud bang outside the property.

When she checked the area, she discovered what police believe to be a strike mark on the wall beside the kitchen window.

A man wearing a grey and black coat and blue trousers was reportedly seen leaving the area shortly afterwards in the direction of nearby fields.

Police Appeal for Dash-Cam and Doorbell Footage

Detective Sergeant Emerson said an investigation was underway and appealed to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact police.

Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who:

noticed suspicious activity in the Colmcille Road area;

• saw anyone matching the description given by police;
• has dash-cam footage from the area;
• has doorbell or CCTV footage that may assist the investigation.
