Tragic Incident on Upper Newtownards Road

A man has died following a serious road traffic collision in east Belfast on Saturday, 29 November, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland. The fatal incident, which occurred on the Upper Newtownards Road, remains under investigation as police appeal for information.

Police Provide Initial Details on the Collision

Chief Inspector Simpson from the Collision Investigation Unit said officers received a report shortly after 10.40pm involving a collision between a Mercedes Vito and a pedestrian.

Emergency services attended the scene immediately. The pedestrian was taken to hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

Appeal for Witnesses and Dash-Cam Footage

Detectives from the Collision Investigation Unit are urging witnesses to come forward. They are particularly interested in anyone who was travelling in the area at the time or who may have captured dash-cam footage.

Road Closures Lifted

The Upper Newtownards Road was closed for several hours to allow investigations to take place but has since fully reopened.
