A man has been left with severe leg injuries after being shot in the Bloomfield Road area of Bangor on Tuesday night. Detectives are appealing for witnesses, CCTV, dashcam footage, or any information that could help identify those responsible.

Man Shot in Bangor as Detectives Appeal for Witnesses

Detectives have launched a Bangor shooting appeal after a man was shot in the Bloomfield Road area on Tuesday evening.

Police say the incident happened at approximately 10.40pm on Tuesday 12 May. Officers from the PSNI, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, attended the scene after reports that a man had been shot.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a gunshot wound to his leg.

Although the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police say they are severe and are likely to leave the man with lasting physical and emotional trauma.

PSNI Condemns Violence

Detective Sergeant Gray condemned the attack and said the shooting had caused fear within the local community.

He said:

“This attack has caused fear and disruption in the very community those responsible for this criminal act claim to protect and there is no justification for this violence.”

Police are now urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or anyone with information, CCTV footage, mobile phone footage, or dashcam recordings, to come forward.
