Man Charged to Court Following Bangor Arson Attack

A 27-year-old man has been charged following an alleged arson attack at a property in the Balloo Walk area of Bangor. He is expected to appear before Newtownards Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 7 September.

Detectives investigating a Bangor arson attack have charged a 27-year-old man to court following a fire at a property in the Balloo Walk area.

The incident happened during the early hours of Sunday, 6 September 2026.

Man Charged Following Bangor Arson Investigation

Police said the 27-year-old has been charged with a number of offences, including arson with intent to endanger life.

He is expected to appear before Newtownards Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 7 September.

As is standard procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service for Northern Ireland.

A 23-year-old man who was also arrested as part of the investigation has since been released unconditionally.

Earlier Arson Attack in Balloo Walk

Police initially launched an investigation after receiving a report of a fire at a house in the Balloo Walk area of Bangor at approximately 5.30am on Sunday.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended alongside police and extinguished the blaze.

Police said extensive damage was caused inside the property. No injuries were reported and the house was unoccupied at the time.

Detectives said the incident was being investigated as arson with intent to endanger life.
