

Police investigating a stabbing incident in Carrickfergus on 27 May have arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. The arrest was made in the Newtownabbey area on Saturday, 30 May. Detectives are continuing their enquiries and are appealing for information from the public.
Detectives investigating a serious stabbing incident in Carrickfergus have arrested a 41-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.
The arrest was carried out following a search operation in the Newtownabbey area on Saturday, 30 May.
According to police, the man has also been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in police custody and will be interviewed by detectives.
Detective Inspector Lenaghan said:
“A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon, following a search in the Newtownabbey area on Saturday, 30th May.
He has been taken into custody and will be interviewed in due course.”
Police have confirmed that enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence relating to the stabbing and are urging anyone who may have information to come forward.
