Investigation Launched After Death Of Man

Police have launched an investigation after 30-year-old Carl Holland died following an assault outside licensed premises on Suffolk Road in west Belfast. The incident happened at around 9pm on Friday 12 June 2026. Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam footage to come forward.

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team have launched an investigation into the death of a 30-year-old man following an assault in west Belfast.

Carl Holland, who was from the local area, sadly passed away after sustaining a serious head injury during an incident outside licensed premises on Suffolk Road.

Carl Holland Named By Police Following Suffolk Road Assault

Police confirmed that Mr Holland was the victim of an assault that happened outside licensed premises in the Suffolk Road area of west Belfast on the night of Friday 12 June 2026.

Detective Inspector Collins said:

“Carl Holland has sadly passed away, and our thoughts are, first and foremost, with his family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”

According to police, the male suspect arrived by taxi before punching Mr Holland and leaving again in the taxi.

The incident took place at approximately 9pm.

Mr Holland was taken to hospital for treatment to a serious head injury. He remained in a critical condition until his death.

Police Appeal For Witnesses And Footage

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about the assault to contact police.

Police said enquiries have established that a verbal altercation had taken place inside the premises earlier that evening.

Detective Inspector Collins said:

“I am asking anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to get in touch.

“I’m particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault, or the earlier altercation, and who may have captured footage, whether CCTV, mobile phone or dash cam.”

Police Investigation Continuing

The investigation is being carried out by detectives from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team.

Police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was in the Suffolk Road area on Friday 12 June 2026, especially around 9pm, or anyone who may have relevant CCTV, dash cam or mobile phone footage.

Anyone who witnessed the earlier altercation inside the premises, or the assault outside, is asked to contact police as soon as possible.
