The Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed that Peelers – The PSNI for Real will return for a second series following the success of its first run.

Welcoming the announcement, PSNI Chief Constable Jon Boutcher said the force had received overwhelming support and positive feedback from viewers across Northern Ireland.

He described the programme as a “landmark” production for policing and said it offered the public a rare insight into the pressures faced by officers on the frontline.

Speaking about the series, Jon Boutcher said the documentary reflects the unique challenges of policing a society emerging from decades of conflict.

He highlighted how police officers are increasingly dealing with mental health crises and vulnerable people due to wider pressures on public services and grassroots organisations.

The Chief Constable also praised the officers and staff who agreed to take part in the series, noting that appearing publicly is not an easy decision for police in Northern Ireland due to ongoing security concerns.

He added that the force looks forward to continuing its partnership with production company Third Street on the next series.
