Santa Claus rocked up to Carrickfergus at the weekend in a vibrant vintage Volkswagen Beetle to help Councillor Bethany Ferris and her guests light up the town at the annual Christmas Lights Switch On event!
Earlier in the day the Christmas festivities kicked off with the Artisan Christmas Market organised by Council’s Town Centre Development team. Attendees were entertained by walkabout characters, a reindeer pen, a sensory play space, face painting and carnival games – plus an all new on-street performance circle which saw performances from the likes of Bob Bobbins, Sapphire Fire Performers, and local dance groups Studio 86 and Royal Tara Dance Academy.
Crowds were delighted by onstage comperes from Harper Entertainment, who introduced a range of acts including Hawthorns Melody Hands, Flames ‘N’ Ukes, Uplift Performing Arts, Lisa Dawson, and Zolene & The ALS Band.
The Switch On was followed by a spectacular fireworks display which was enjoyed by thousands of spectators who were in the town centre for the festive event.
