Sergeant Graham said police had received several recent reports of young people gathering around the site.
Officers are examining whether those reports could be linked to the burglary, which police believe occurred sometime between Friday, 14 August and Sunday, 16 August.
Police are also aware of concerns within the local community about anti-social behaviour around the vacant leisure centre.
As a result, officers said visible police patrols will increase in the area in an effort to deter further activity.
