A man has been arrested in connection with an assault that took place in the city centre of Belfast.

A man has been arrested by detectives who are investigating an assault that took place on Sunday, April 2nd in the Castle Street area of Belfast. According to Detective Sergeant Kennedy, three 18-year-old men were assaulted by another man in the area at around 4:05 am. The three victims were taken to the hospital for medical attention.

The 35-year-old suspect has been arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and criminal damage. He is currently in police custody.

The incident is being treated as a sectarian motivated hate crime, and investigations are ongoing. Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident is urged to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 367 02/04/23.
