The Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Councillor Bréanainn Lyness, hosted a special reception at The Braid yesterday to honour All Saints GAC Ballymena on its momentous 50th anniversary. Founding members, current players, and generations of supporters gathered to celebrate the legacy of one of Ballymena’s most cherished sporting institutions.
Speaking at the reception, Councillor Lyness shared his pride in the club’s enduring contribution to the local community:
“As Deputy Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, it gives me immense pride to congratulate All Saints GAC in Ballymena on reaching their remarkable 50th anniversary.”
He praised the club’s deep roots, saying that although All Saints is located on Woodside Road and not in the town centre, it has grown into the heartbeat of the community:
“All Saints has become a pillar of Gaelic games, culture, and togetherness. Its impact isn’t defined by location but by the dedication of its people—the passion of its members and the generations of families who’ve helped build it.”
Councillor Lyness also reflected on his personal connection to the club:
“As the grandson of one of its founding members, All Saints holds a particularly special place in my heart.”
The event honoured not only the club’s past but also celebrated its present and future, with many of the original founding members still active and involved, alongside newer generations keeping the tradition alive.
“All Saints is more than just a club,” the Deputy Mayor added. “It’s a home for players, supporters, and volunteers alike. It fosters pride, unity, and a sense of belonging that strengthens our entire town.”
As All Saints GAC Ballymena looks ahead, the community remains united in celebrating five decades of sporting achievement, cultural pride, and community spirit—with hopes high for another 50 years of success.
