Rescue workers searching for missing British teenager Jay Slater in Tenerife have found human remains, Spanish police have confirmed to Sky News. Authorities believe the remains likely belong to the 19-year-old, though formal identification is pending.
Canarias Radio reported that the Civil Guard discovered a body in the village of Masca. The radio station posted on X, stating, “All indications point to it being Jay Slater, the young British man who disappeared on 17 June in Tenerife.” Initial investigations suggest that the cause of death might be due to an accident or fall in the area.
Jay Slater, who was 19 years old, was last heard from after setting off on a lengthy walk from the northern part of the island to his holiday accommodation in the south—a trek estimated to take around 11 hours. Jay had flown to Tenerife with friends on 13 June to attend a music festival at the Papagayo nightclub in Playa de las Americas three days later.
The Slater family and LBT Global, an organization assisting in the search, have been closely monitoring the situation. The discovery of the remains has brought a sombre turn to the ongoing search efforts, leaving friends and family awaiting further updates and formal identification.
