Man Arrested After Large Amount of Cash Seized Near Ballymena

A 35-year-old man has been arrested after police stopped and searched a vehicle near Ballymena and seized what they described as a large amount of cash.

Police later searched a property in Lisburn, where officers say a quantity of drugs was recovered.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property and a number of drug-related offences. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

A man has been arrested after police seized a large amount of cash from a vehicle near Ballymena.

The incident began after officers received a report of a vehicle being driven erratically in the Frosses Road area of Ballymoney on Thursday 24 September.

Police located the vehicle a short time later in the Lisnevenagh Road area of Ballymena, where it was stopped and searched.

A large amount of cash was subsequently seized, while the vehicle itself was also taken by police.

35-Year-Old Man Arrested

Inspector McGillan said officers from the Local Policing Team had been deployed following the initial report.

Police said the driver, a 35-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of possession of criminal property.

The investigation later led officers to a property in Lisburn.

Drugs Recovered During Lisburn Search

According to police, officers from the Tactical Support Group carried out a search of a property in Lisburn under guidance from the Economic Crime Unit.

A quantity of drugs was recovered during the search.

Police said the man was then further arrested on suspicion of a number of drug-related offences, including:

• Possession of a Class A controlled drug
• Possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply

Following interview, the man was released on bail to allow further police enquiries to continue.

Detective Inspector McKenna said detectives from the PSNI’s Organised Crime Branch would continue targeting illegal drug activity.

Police are appealing for anyone with information about suspected drugs activity in their area to contact officers.
