Donaghadee Maritime History Walking Tour
Discover the rich history of Donaghadee on this guided walking tour led by Dr Robert Neill, departing on foot from Donaghadee Harbour.
Known for its strong maritime heritage and as a filming location for the BBC series Hope Street, Donaghadee has centuries of stories to uncover. This tour explores the town’s past from the 1600s to the present day, bringing together tales of the harbour, local landmarks, churches and seafaring history.

One of the highlights is the story of the Sir Samuel Kelly lifeboat, which played a vital role in rescuing survivors from the MV Princess Victoria disaster in 1953.

The tour includes uneven ground and some inclines, so suitable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
Under 18s must be accompanied by a paying adult and must also have a full-price ticket.
Carers go free. No other concessions apply.
Ticket sales close 48 hours before the tour.

Parking may be available at Donaghadee Community Centre, close to the harbour along The Parade.
The harbour area is located at BT21 0HF.
Visitors travelling by public transport should check current Translink timetables.

The route may not be suitable for wheelchair users or those with mobility difficulties due to uneven ground and inclines.
