Police Appeal After Racial Hate-Motivated Arson Attack In Newtownards

Police are appealing for information after a car fire in the Hartford Mews area of Newtownards shortly before 1am on Friday 12 June 2026. Two vehicles were damaged in what police are treating as a racial hate-motivated arson attack. Police Appeal Following Newtownards Arson Attack

Police have launched an appeal for information following a racial hate-motivated arson attack in Newtownards.

The incident happened in the Hartford Mews area shortly before 1am on Friday 12 June 2026, when police received a report that a car was on fire.

Officers attended the scene alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, who extinguished the blaze.

Two Vehicles Damaged In Hartford Mews Fire

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

However, police confirmed that two vehicles were damaged in the fire. The incident is being treated as a racial hate-motivated arson.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from the Hartford Mews area around the time of the fire.
