Two Fatalities Confirmed After Lisburn Road Traffic Collision

Two people have tragically lost their lives following a road traffic collision in the Lisburn area on Saturday evening, 25 April 2026.

The incident occurred in Upper Ballinderry, along the Glenavy Road, and involved a motorcycle and a car.

Emergency Services Respond to Glenavy Road Crash

According to the Police Service of Northern Ireland, officers received a report of the collision shortly before 6pm.

Emergency services, including the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene promptly.

Despite their efforts, both drivers — one from each vehicle — were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation Underway by Collision Investigation Unit

Detective Inspector Dave Stewart from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit confirmed that:

  • The collision involved a motorcycle and a car
  • A third person was taken to hospital for treatment
  • The road was temporarily closed between Soldierstown Road and Hammonds Road
  • The road has since fully reopened

Police have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

The PSNI is urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have relevant footage, to come forward.

This includes:

  • Dash-cam recordings
  • CCTV footage
  • Mobile phone recordings
