Ten-year-old fighter Kain Stewart from Foxton Wood Square, Ballymena, has officially been crowned WKO Grand Champion after one of the most impressive youth seasons in recent years. The young athlete dominated the 10–11 year old, -25kg divisions in both Boxing and K1, placing him at the very top of the WKO Grand Prix ranking board.

A Breakthrough Year for WKO Grand Champion Kain Stewart

Kain’s rise to WKO Grand Champion has been nothing short of remarkable, defined by powerful performances and major competitive victories across the UK.

WKO British Champion

One of Kain’s standout achievements was winning the WKO British K1 title. Despite stepping up two weight classes, he defeated the reigning WKO European and World Champion to secure the title—an extraordinary accomplishment for any athlete, let alone someone aged just ten.

Officially Crowned WKO Grand Champion

At the WKO Grand Prix awards ceremony in Barnsley, Kain was presented with the prestigious championship title belt, along with medals and certificates. The awards were handed over by WKO UK President Jon Green, recognising Kain for accumulating the highest points across both Boxing and K1 throughout the 2025 season.

Special Recognition: 2025 Favourite Fighter Award

The surprises didn’t stop there. On the same night, Kain received the highly coveted WKO Favourite Fighter Award. This honour placed him above thousands of competitors from across the WKO association. The award was completely unexpected, making the moment even more emotional for Kain and his family.

Looking Ahead: Major Opportunities for Kain in 2026

With his Grand Champion title secured, Kain now prepares for what promises to be the biggest year of his young career.

Representing Team Great Britain

Kain has been selected to represent Team Great Britain at the 2026 WKO World Championships in the UK this July. Training for the event begins in January, as he joins the GB squad for official sessions, travelling alongside his father and coach.

Competing at the WKO European Championships

Before the World Championships, Kain will compete at the WKO European Championships in May, entering both the Boxing and K1 divisions. His father notes that—while kickboxing has been a huge part of his development—it is Kain’s exceptional boxing ability that continues to stand out on the international stage.

Entering Irish Amateur Boxing

In September 2026, Kain will also begin his journey into Irish amateur boxing, marking another significant step in his progression as a young athlete. With multiple high-level competitions ahead, 2026 is set to deliver even more success for this rising Ballymena champion.
