A talented team of young dancers from Studio 86 in Carrickfergus will represent Northern Ireland at the Dance World Cup 2025 in Burgos, Spain this July. Aged 9–16, the girls have qualified in multiple dance styles and will compete against 9,000 dancers from around the globe.
An inspiring team of young dancers from Studio 86 in Carrickfergus have earned their place on the world stage, qualifying for the Dance World Cup 2025 Finals, taking place from 1st to 12th July in Burgos, Spain.
These girls, aged between 9 and 16, earned their qualification back in January 2025, and have since trained with unmatched passion and commitment.
Studio 86’s dancers will represent both Northern Ireland and their hometown of Carrickfergus, competing in Hip Hop & Street, Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, and Acro styles. They’ll go head-to-head with some of the best young dancers from across Canada, America, Australia, Taiwan, China, and more.
With over 9,000 dancers attending across the 12 days, the Dance World Cup is the largest international dance competition in the world.
The dancers train at Studio 86 in Carrickfergus, where most of them spend hours each night, several days a week, refining technique and perfecting routines. Many have been with the studio since it opened nearly ten years ago, growing into powerful performers and team players.
Despite busy school schedules—and for some, GCSEs—they’ve kept their training at the heart of their daily routines.
The road to Spain hasn’t been easy. Parents and supporters have worked tirelessly fundraising, helping cover the costs of travel, accommodation, and competition fees.
Meanwhile, the girls kept training hard and balancing their education, with overwhelming support from the Carrickfergus community every step of the way.
Their coach at Studio 86 shared:
“I couldn’t be prouder of these girls. Their work ethic and determination are incredible. They give everything they have to the studio and have earned their place on this world stage. I’m honoured to coach them. Carrickfergus should be buzzing with pride.”
With July fast approaching, the team from Studio 86 Carrickfergus is preparing to showcase the very best of Northern Ireland talent on the global stage. Regardless of the outcome, they’ve already made their mark—and inspired many young dancers at home.
