Two Charged to Court Following Arrests in Carrickfergus

Two people have been charged to court following arrests in Carrickfergus in the early hours of Monday, 23 February.

Police confirmed that a man and a woman were detained at a car park in the Marine Highway area of the town. A substantial amount of cash was recovered at the scene. Officers also located suspected drugs during a related search.

Charges Against the Accused

A 39-year-old man has been charged with:

  • Possessing criminal property
  • Possession of a Class A controlled drug
  • Possessing counterfeit currency
  • Possession of goods with intent to evade duty

A 32-year-old woman has been charged with:

  • Possessing criminal property
  • Possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply
  • Possessing counterfeit currency

Both are scheduled to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 24 February.

Prosecution Process

As is standard procedure, all charges will be subject to review by the Public Prosecution Service.

Police have not released further details at this stage.
