Teacher Faces Jail After Admitting Sexual Assault of 15-Year-Old Schoolboy in New Jersey

A former special education teacher has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old schoolboy and could now face a prison sentence of up to 12 years.

Allison Havemann-Niedrach, aged 44, admitted a single count of aggravated sexual assault following a police investigation into her relationship with the underage pupil.

Court documents reveal that Havemann-Niedrach exchanged more than 25,000 text messages with the boy, some of which contained explicit sexual content. Police also recovered images and videos from her mobile phone, including footage showing sexual activity involving the child.

The case came to light in 2024 after a vice principal at Freehold Intermediate School raised safeguarding concerns with authorities. He told police he observed the teacher rubbing the pupil’s neck and back, touching his leg, and behaving flirtatiously towards him during school hours.

Prosecutors said the boy was frequently allowed to eat lunch alone in the teacher’s classroom. Further concerns were raised after the child’s mother learned he had been seen sitting in the teacher’s car.

During the investigation, the teenager initially told police he was in a relationship with Havemann-Niedrach’s daughter. However, officers from the Freehold Borough Police Department examined messages on his phone and established that this claim was untrue.

After further questioning, the boy admitted that he had been sexually abused by the teacher. He told investigators the abuse took place at Havemann-Niedrach’s home and in hotels. Police later corroborated his account using mobile phone location data and financial records.

Havemann-Niedrach was arrested in 2024 and released on bail under strict home confinement conditions. She was initially indicted on seven charges, including aggravated sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, official misconduct, and the creation of child sexual abuse material.

Under a plea agreement, the remaining charges will be withdrawn at sentencing. Havemann-Niedrach is scheduled to be sentenced on 7 May.
