The body of Monica Reid, a 26-year-old Rose of Tralee contestant, was discovered after she was reported missing by her family in New Zealand.

The Auckland Irish Club issued a heartfelt tribute to Monica, stating, “Sending lots of love and condolences to the family of Monica Reid. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. May she rest in peace.”

Monica, who was set to compete in the renowned Rose of Tralee festival in Ireland this August, had been missing since Friday. The police confirmed today that her body was found during a search operation.

A police spokesperson said, “Her death is not being treated as suspicious and will be referred to the Coroner. Police extend our sympathies to the woman’s family and loved ones.”

Monica, representing Auckland, participated in the New Zealand competition last month to select a representative for the upcoming festival in Ireland.

A resident of Atatū, Monica worked as a transport network organiser and was completing a master’s degree in urban planning.

Following her disappearance, her sister Imogen Trupinic shared on Facebook that Monica was the youngest of eight siblings and was in the process of buying a house with her fiancé.
