Renewed Appeal for Information on the Murder of Wayne Reid in Coleraine

Detectives investigating the murder of Wayne Reid have issued a renewed public appeal for information as enquiries continue in the Coleraine area.

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland Major Investigation Team confirmed that searches were carried out on Tuesday morning, 21 January, in the Society Street and Society Court areas of Coleraine.

Investigation Continues in Society Street and Society Court

Detective Chief Inspector Hazel Miller said Wayne Reid, aged 43, was pronounced dead on Monday, 12 January, at an address in Society Court.

Police believe Mr Reid was assaulted at an address on Society Street during the early hours of Saturday, 10 January, and later died as a result of the injuries he sustained.

DCI Miller said detectives remain actively engaged in the investigation and that residents will continue to see a police presence in the area as enquiries progress.

Appeal for Witnesses and Information

DCI Miller said her thoughts remain with Wayne Reid’s family and loved ones during what she described as an unimaginably difficult time, adding that the incident has also left the local community shaken.

Police are particularly keen to hear from:

  • Anyone who witnessed an assault on Society Street in the early hours of Saturday, 10 January
  • Anyone who spoke to Wayne Reid in the period following the attack
  • Anyone with CCTV, mobile phone, doorbell, or dashcam footage from the area
