Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, confirming the return of Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby — and introducing a major new power shift within the Shelby empire.

The film sees Barry Keoghan take on the role of Duke Shelby, Tommy’s illegitimate son, now grown and running the Peaky Blinders gang. However, this is not the Birmingham of 1919. The trailer makes it clear that England is in turmoil during World War II — and the Shelby name is once again tied to violence and political unrest.

Ada Shelby, played by Sophie Rundle, warns Tommy: “Your gypsy son is running Peaky Blinders like it’s 1919 all over again.” That warning sets the tone for a brutal family reckoning.

A War-Torn England and a Divided Shelby Empire

Set against the backdrop of WWII, the trailer shows the Peaky Blinders terrorising a nation already under strain from bombings and political extremism. Duke appears aligned with dangerous nationalist forces, with Tim Roth portraying a British fascist sympathiser offering Duke a path to support Germany during the war.

Tommy Shelby is forced out of relative isolation and back into leadership. The central conflict becomes deeply personal: father versus son, legacy versus ambition.

As tensions rise, Tommy must remind both Duke and the city of Birmingham exactly who he is — and what the Shelby name truly represents.

Returning Faces and New Additions

Alongside Murphy and Rundle, familiar allies return:

  • Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg
  • Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong

New cast members include:

  • Rebecca Ferguson
  • Jay Lycurgo

The film is directed by Tom Harper, who previously helmed episodes of the original series. The franchise was created by Steven Knight, who continues to expand the Peaky Blinders universe.

What Comes After The Immortal Man?

The original Peaky Blinders series debuted on BBC in 2013, before Netflix acquired U.S. rights. The show concluded in 2022 after six seasons.

A sequel series has already been ordered by Netflix and BBC, set after the events of The Immortal Man. According to the official logline:

“After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s ‘Peaky Blinders,’ the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions.”

The Shelby family remains at the heart of a city defined by opportunity, corruption and bloodshed.

Release Date

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man premieres on Netflix on March 20.

The trailer signals a darker, more politically charged chapter for the Shelby dynasty — with the battle no longer just for territory, but for legacy itself.
