Murder Investigation Launched in Derry/Londonderry After Woman’s Death

A PSNI murder investigation in Derry/Londonderry has been launched following the death of a woman after an incident in the Summer Meadows Mews area on Saturday, 21 March 2026.

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team attended a property at approximately 10.20am, where they discovered an injured woman.

She was taken to hospital by colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), but sadly later died.


PSNI Murder Investigation in Derry/Londonderry Confirmed

Detective Inspector Michelle Griffin, from the PSNI’s Major Investigation Team, confirmed that a murder investigation in Derry/Londonderry is now underway.

She said officers responded to the scene on Saturday morning and located the injured woman inside the property.

Despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman later died in hospital.

Detective Inspector Griffin added that officers’ thoughts are with the woman’s family and loved ones as they come to terms with the loss.


Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

As part of the PSNI murder investigation in Derry/Londonderry, a 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

At this stage, police have not released further details about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Enquiries remain ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and establish the full circumstances.
