Mid Ulster Celebrates Excellence at 2026 Business & Environment Awards

Over 300 guests gathered at the Burnavon Theatre in Cookstown last night as Mid Ulster District Council hosted its prestigious Business & Environment Awards 2026.

The evening recognised the outstanding achievements of businesses, organisations and individuals who are driving economic growth while championing sustainability, innovation and community engagement across the district.

Hosted by local personality Lynette Faye alongside Council Chair Councillor Frances Burton, the event marked a major celebration of enterprise and environmental leadership in Mid Ulster.

Recognising the Best in Business and Sustainability

The awards ceremony honoured excellence across twelve categories, highlighting the strength and diversity of the local economy.

  • Best Independent Retailer / Service Award: Begley’s Sports
  • Apprentice of the Year Award: Daniel Evans (EDEN Fabrications)
  • Employer of Choice Award: Uform
  • Best Social Enterprise Award: Superstars Club
  • Rising Star Award: Michael Owens (Maneely & Co Ltd)
  • Mid Ulster Climate Champion Award: H&A Group
  • Net Zero Project of the Year: Mallon Technology
  • Environmental Education & Engagement Award: St Colm’s High School, Draperstown
  • Excellence in Resource Management Award: O&S Doors Ltd

Each award reflected the dedication, resilience and forward-thinking approach of businesses operating within Mid Ulster.

A Night of Pride for the District

Chair of the Council, Councillor Frances Burton, presented trophies to the winners and praised the contribution local businesses make to the area.

She said the awards celebrate the innovation, sustainability and commitment that make Mid Ulster a vibrant and inspiring place to live and work.

The ceremony highlighted how responsible business practices and environmental leadership are strengthening communities while supporting long-term economic growth.
