Man in His 20s Dies After Serious Downpatrick Collision

Fatal Crash on Ballydugan Road

A man in his 20s has tragically died following a serious road traffic collision in Downpatrick. The crash happened on Monday, 15 September 2025, at around 2pm on Ballydugan Road.

The collision involved a silver VW Bora and a grey Toyota Avensis. Emergency services attended the scene, but the driver of the VW Bora was pronounced dead.

Passenger and Two Women Injured

• The passenger of the VW Bora, also a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.
• Two women who were travelling in the Toyota Avensis were also taken to hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for several hours to allow emergency crews to respond but has since reopened.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Inspector Cherith Adair from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit said an investigation is underway. Officers are asking anyone with information, dash-cam, or mobile footage from the area at the time to come forward.
