TL;DR: A young man has died and three others were injured following a two-car collision on Ballydugan Road, Downpatrick. Police are appealing for witnesses and dash-cam footage.
A man in his 20s has tragically died following a serious road traffic collision in Downpatrick. The crash happened on Monday, 15 September 2025, at around 2pm on Ballydugan Road.
The collision involved a silver VW Bora and a grey Toyota Avensis. Emergency services attended the scene, but the driver of the VW Bora was pronounced dead.
The road was closed for several hours to allow emergency crews to respond but has since reopened.
Inspector Cherith Adair from the PSNI’s Collision Investigation Unit said an investigation is underway. Officers are asking anyone with information, dash-cam, or mobile footage from the area at the time to come forward.
