Police Officer Injured in Kilkeel Vehicle Incident

A 21-year-old man has been charged to court following a serious incident in Kilkeel on Friday, 1st August 2025, where a police officer was injured after being dragged by a moving vehicle.

The incident is being investigated by officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), and the man has now been formally charged in connection with the event.

Charges Brought Forward

The suspect faces multiple charges, including:

  • Attempted grievous bodily harm with intent
  • Dangerous driving
  • Failing to stop for police

He is due to appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 27th August 2025.


Charges Under Review

As with all such cases, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).
