Healthcare Ireland, a rapidly growing care home provider, has announced a significant investment of over £20 million in its Northern Ireland facilities. This expansion plan includes the creation of more than 130 new beds across three locations: Carrickfergus, Banbridge, and Newtownards.

Former Hotel to Become a Luxury Care Home

The most noteworthy development is the transformation of the Loughshore Hotel in Carrickfergus. Previously used to house asylum seekers and refugees, the hotel will undergo construction within weeks to become a state-of-the-art, 121-bed luxury care home by the end of 2025. This project highlights Healthcare Ireland’s commitment to providing high-quality residential care in Northern Ireland.

Expansion Across Multiple Locations

The investment extends beyond Carrickfergus. Construction is also scheduled to begin at Bannview House care home in Banbridge and Blair House care home in Newtownards. These projects will add a combined 13 new bedrooms and a conservatory at the Banbridge facility, while the Newtownards home will receive an extension.

Meeting Growing Demand

“The addition of our bed provision in Newtownards and Banbridge will meet the demand for several categories of care,” said Gilbert Yates, CEO of Healthcare Ireland and a finalist in this year’s EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Ireland programme. “The care provided includes general nursing care, general residential care, dementia nursing care, and dementia residential care.”

Mr. Yates further emphasized the company’s dedication to exceptional care: “In Banbridge and Newtownards, as with all of our homes, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care and support tailored to the needs of our residents and delivered by a staff team that is dedicated and committed to our residents.”
