Red Lights for International Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day

On Monday 26 January, both landmarks will be illuminated in red to mark International Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day.

Kawasaki Disease is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children in the UK. Around 1,000 children are affected each year, with cases continuing to rise. Early diagnosis and treatment are critical, as they can significantly reduce the risk of long-term heart damage.

However, the condition is often misdiagnosed in its early stages, increasing the risk of serious complications. By lighting the buildings red, the Council aims to help raise awareness among parents, carers, and the wider public.

Purple Lights for Holocaust Memorial Day

Tuesday 27 January 2026 | 8pm–Midnight

On Tuesday 27 January, Enniskillen Castle and Strule Arts Centre will be illuminated in purple from 8pm until midnight to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.

The day commemorates the six million Jewish men, women, and children murdered during the Holocaust. It also remembers all those persecuted and killed under Nazi persecution, as well as victims of more recent genocides.

Holocaust Memorial Day encourages people to reflect on the past, challenge prejudice, and stand against hatred in all its forms. Further information is available at https://hmd.org.uk.
