Appeal After Man Found Unconscious in Belfast City Centre

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was found unconscious in Belfast city centre on Saturday afternoon (14 March). Emergency services attended Royal Avenue at around 4:40pm, and the man was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. Police are investigating a possible link to an earlier assault in Castle Place.

Police have launched an appeal for information after a man was discovered unconscious in Belfast city centre on Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called to the Royal Avenue area shortly before 4:40pm on Saturday, 14 March, after receiving a request for assistance from colleagues in the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

When police arrived at the scene, ambulance crews were already providing emergency medical treatment to an unconscious male. The man was later taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Possible Link to Earlier Assault

Detectives are now working to establish exactly what happened and are examining whether the incident could be connected to an earlier reported assault in the Castle Place area.

The assault was reported to police at around 4:30pm, just minutes before emergency services were called to attend Royal Avenue.

Both locations are among the busiest areas of Belfast city centre, and officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Police are asking anyone who may have information about what happened, or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the Castle Place or Royal Avenue areas on Saturday afternoon, to come forward.

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have mobile phone footage, dashcam recordings, or CCTV images from the area that could assist with their enquiries.
