Make Your Own Lilliputian

Get creative this Halloween half-term with Make Your Own Lilliputian, a family-friendly arts and crafts workshop taking place at Carrickfergus Civic Centre on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 October 2026.

Inspired by Jonathan Swift's famous novel Gulliver's Travels, this imaginative workshop invites families to create their very own miniature residents of Lilliput, which will become part of a giant sculptural installation of Gulliver.

Using reclaimed fabric, sticks, string and recycled cardboard, participants will explore creative techniques including wrapping, knotting, folding and layering to bring their tiny characters to life.

Each handmade Lilliputian will have its own personality, colour and character. Together, the figures will form a vibrant miniature community alongside the giant Gulliver sculpture.

The project celebrates the approaching 300th anniversary of the publication of Gulliver's Travels in 1726, combining creativity, storytelling and sustainable art.
