Build Your Own Flying Island — Family Workshop at Carrickfergus Museum

Bring the family to Carrickfergus Museum on Saturday 28 November 2026 for a free creative session inspired by Gulliver’s Travels. Young at Art will help children and families imagine their own version of Laputa, the floating island in Jonathan Swift’s story.

Using tissue paper, cardboard and other supplied materials, visitors can design a flying island in their own style. The workshop forms part of the celebrations marking 300 years of Gulliver’s Travels and offers a hands-on way to explore its imaginative world.

The drop-in session runs from 11am to 1pm at Carrickfergus Museum and Civic Centre, 11 Antrim Street, Carrickfergus, County Antrim, BT38 7DG. Admission is free, all materials are provided and no booking is required.

Check the official Mid and East Antrim event page for the latest visitor information, or contact Carrickfergus Museum with any questions before travelling.
