£3,000 of Class A and B drugs seized after police stop leads to searches in Larne and Carrickfergus

Police say approximately £3,000 worth of Class A and Class B drugs have been seized following a proactive traffic stop and subsequent searches at addresses in Larne and Carrickfergus.

One man was arrested and is assisting police with enquiries.

Police seize drugs following Larne and Carrickfergus searches

Police have seized an estimated £3,000 worth of Class A and Class B drugs following searches in Larne and Carrickfergus.

Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a proactive traffic stop on Tuesday night, 6 October.

Police said the stop resulted in further enquiries and follow-up searches at addresses in both towns.

During those searches, officers located and seized drugs which police estimate to have a combined value of approximately £3,000.

One man was arrested and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

Larne and Carrickfergus drugs seizure part of ongoing police operation

Police Mid & East Antrim said tackling the illegal supply of drugs remains a priority for local officers.

In a statement, police said:

“Targeting illegal drug supply remains a priority for local policing across Mid and East Antrim. Every seizure directly disrupts criminal activity and helps keep our towns safer for everyone.”

Neighbourhood policing teams regularly carry out patrols, vehicle stops and searches as part of efforts to disrupt suspected drug supply across the district.

Police have previously stressed that information from members of the public can play an important role in identifying suspected drug dealing and other criminal activity.
