Halloween 2026: Fireworks and Family Events Planned Across Mid Ulster

Families across Mid Ulster can look forward to a packed programme of Halloween events in 2026, with free celebrations and fireworks planned in Cookstown, Dungannon, Coalisland and Maghera.

Highlights include funfair rides, fire jugglers, Halloween characters, roller discos, face painting, live music, children’s activities and fireworks displays.

The main community events are free to attend, although advance booking is required for the Coalisland roller discos.

Residents across Mid Ulster can prepare for a hair-raising Halloween this October, with a series of free family events and fireworks displays planned across the district.

Organised by Mid Ulster District Council, the Halloween events in Mid Ulster will take place in Cookstown, Dungannon, Coalisland and Maghera.

The programme includes everything from funfair rides and fire performers to roller discos, face painting, Halloween characters, live music and fireworks.

The council says the main community events are free, with no booking required except for the roller discos in Coalisland.

Cookstown Halloween 2026

The Halloween celebrations begin in Cookstown on Saturday 24 October at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena.

Activities begin from 5pm, with the fireworks display scheduled for 8pm.

Families can expect:

• Halloween crafts and colouring
• Balloon modelling
• Face painting
• Glitter tattoos
• Slime workshop
• Glow Party

Cookstown Fireworks

The Cookstown fireworks display will take place at 8pm at Mid Ulster Sports Arena.

Parking will be available at Loughry College Campus, although spaces are limited. Access will be through the college’s main entrance on the Cookstown-Dungannon A29.

Dungannon Halloween and Fireworks

Dungannon’s Halloween celebrations take place on Friday 30 October.

Activities begin at Market Square from 6.30pm, while the fireworks display will launch from the Hill of The O’Neill at 7.45pm.

Entertainment includes:

• Halloween-themed walkabout characters
• Fire juggler performance
• DJ
• Face painting
• Glasgowbury Samba Band

Face painting will take place inside The Square Box at Ranfurly House.

A quiet space will also be available at Dungannon Leisure Centre from 7pm.

Dungannon Road Closures

Drivers should also be aware that temporary road closures are planned around the event.

The council says Thomas Street, Castlehill and Market Square will be fully closed from 5.30pm until 9pm, with traffic diversions in operation.

Coalisland Halloween Moves to Brackaville GFC

Halloween celebrations in Coalisland will take place on Saturday 31 October, with this year’s event moving to Brackaville GFC.

Activities begin from 6pm, with the fireworks display scheduled for 8.45pm.

The programme includes:

• Free roller discos
• Gaming buses
• Face painting
• Live music
• Halloween walkabout characters

Free Coalisland Roller Discos

Three free roller disco sessions will take place at:

• 6pm
• 7pm
• 8pm

Although the sessions are free, tickets must be booked in advance.

Halloween Hooley in Maghera

Maghera’s Halloween Hooley also takes place on Saturday 31 October.

Family activities will run at Maghera Leisure Centre from 3pm until 6pm, before the fireworks display at nearby St Patrick’s College Playing Fields at 6.30pm.

The gates for the fireworks display open at 6pm.

Activities at Maghera Leisure Centre include:

• Toy set and carousel
• Trampolines
• Music and DJ

Inside

• Jump Jiggle and Jive Dance
• Face painting
• Magic show
• Soft play
• Bouncy castle

All rides will close at 6pm, giving families time to make their way to St Patrick’s College Playing Fields for the fireworks.

Parking in Maghera

There will be no onsite parking at Maghera Leisure Centre.

Visitors are encouraged to use the main public car parks in Maghera town centre.

Parking for disabled and Blue Badge holders will be available at the entrance to St Patrick’s College.

The four major fireworks events are not the only Halloween activities planned across the district.

Halloween Taster Sessions at The Burnavon

The Burnavon in Cookstown will host Halloween Taster Sessions with the Nerve Centre on Saturday 24 October.

Sessions run from:

• 11am to 12.30pm

• 1pm to 2.30pm

Activities include digital creativity, music, film and gaming experiences such as a Horror Orchestra, Minecraft Build Challenge, Halloween Green Screen and retro gaming.

Tickets cost £1 and booking is essential.

Pumpkin Patch at Pomeroy Forest Park

A Halloween Pumpkin Patch will take place at Pomeroy Forest Park on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October from 10am until 3pm.

One-hour time slots are available.

Activities include:

• Pumpkin picking
• Pumpkin carving
• Arts and crafts
• Halloween disco
• Fancy dress competition
• Custom group photo
• Food vendors

Council Welcomes Return of Halloween Events

Chair of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Deirdre Varsani, said she was pleased to see the community celebrations return.

She said the events provide an opportunity for families and communities to come together and enjoy Halloween, while keeping the main council-run celebrations free and accessible.
