Cliftonville Ladies Move Closer to Women’s Premiership Title

Cliftonville Ladies have taken another major step towards the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership title after beating Lisburn Rangers 3-1 at Solitude.

Elsewhere, Crusaders Strikers defeated Larne Women 3-2, while Derry City Women and Lisburn Ladies shared six goals in a 3-3 draw.

Cliftonville Ladies strengthen title push

Cliftonville Ladies moved closer to securing the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership title with an important 3-1 victory over Lisburn Rangers at Solitude.

The Reds established a two-goal advantage inside the opening 35 minutes.

Teegan Lynch opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Caitlin McGuinness doubled Cliftonville’s advantage with an impressive strike from the edge of the box.

Louise McDaniel made it 3-0 in the 76th minute, putting Cliftonville firmly in control.

Lisburn Rangers did manage to find the net late on, with Abbie Smyth pulling a goal back in the 90th minute.

However, it was too late to change the outcome as Cliftonville secured another valuable victory in their pursuit of the Women’s Premiership title.

Crusaders Strikers edge five-goal thriller

There was plenty of action at Seaview, where Crusaders Strikers claimed a 3-2 victory over Larne Women.

Emilee Leacock gave the Strikers the lead in the 34th minute.

However, Larne responded immediately after the restart when Chloe Doak found the equaliser.

Jessica Rea restored Crusaders Strikers’ advantage before Rachel Dennison brought Larne level for a second time.

With the match finely balanced, Mia Reilly produced the decisive moment.

She struck with eight minutes remaining to put Crusaders ahead for the third time, and this time they held onto their advantage to secure all three points.

Derry City Women and Lisburn Ladies share six goals

The goals also flowed at the Limavady Showgrounds as Derry City Women and Lisburn Ladies played out an entertaining 3-3 draw.

Chelsea Sheerin and Chelsea Scott gave Derry a commanding 2-0 advantage.

Jessica Hall reduced the deficit for Lisburn before Scott scored her second shortly before half-time to restore Derry’s two-goal cushion.

Lisburn Ladies responded strongly after the break.

Stacey Murdough and Sidra Younes Alsaidi both found the net as Lisburn completed their comeback and earned a point from the six-goal encounter.

Glentoran Women face Linfield Women on Sunday

The Sports Direct Women’s Premiership action continues on Sunday, 20 September, when Glentoran Women welcome Linfield Women to the Blanchflower Stadium.

Kick-off is scheduled for 4.30pm.
