About this Event
TRÚ Live at Lisburn Cathedral
Northern Irish folk trio TRÚ, supported by Tia Bow, will headline the Lisburn and Castlereagh Fringe Fleadh Festival with a free concert at Lisburn Cathedral.
Blending traditional folk music, original songwriting and contemporary production, TRÚ bring a distinctive and atmospheric sound to one of Lisburn’s most striking live music venues.
Traditional Folk with a Contemporary Sound
TRÚ are Michael Mormecha, Zachary Trouton and Dónal Kearney, three musicians from Northern Ireland whose work draws on their different musical backgrounds and cultural identities.
Their music explores the meeting point between traditional material, modern songwriting and experimental production. Influences ranging from Clannad and Joni Mitchell to The Beatles and Nine Inch Nails help create an eclectic sound that is rooted in tradition while looking firmly towards the future.
The band’s name is inspired by the trú, a mythological trio of poet-musicians from ancient Ulster. According to legend, their songs and stories came from another world, earning them a reputation as mysterious gatekeepers to the Otherworld.
TRÚ use this mythology as a source of inspiration, combining storytelling, heritage and contemporary music in an imaginative live performance.
Tia Bow
Support on the evening comes from Tia Bow, the latest musical project from Irish songwriter Fionnuala Fagan-Thiébot.
Tia Bow marks a new chapter in her songwriting, moving from oral histories towards more personal and story-led material.
Her forthcoming album, Blackberry Path, is due for release in autumn 2026 and blends acoustic and electronic sounds with vocals, synthesizers, strings, guitars and beats.
Produced by Michael Mormecha at Tree Song Studios and featuring Irish-Filipino musician Clare Galway, the project brings together elements of folk, rock and electronica.
Tia Bow’s recent music has received support from BBC Radio Ulster, RTÉ’s Folk on One, GoldenPlec, Chordblossom and Hot Press.
