Man Charged Following South Belfast Drug Search

A 30-year-old man was charged with possessing a Class B controlled drug following a police search in south Belfast. A second man, aged 48, was released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of possessing a Class A drug.

Police charged a man following a south Belfast drug search in the Fitzroy Avenue area on Wednesday, 29 July 2026.

The 30-year-old was charged with possession of a Class B controlled drug, according to the Police Service of Northern Ireland.

He was due to appear before Belfast Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 30 July.

Second Man Released on Bail After South Belfast Drug Search

Police also arrested a 48-year-old man on suspicion of possessing a Class A controlled drug.

He was subsequently released on police bail to allow officers to continue their enquiries.

The PSNI has not released any further information about the search or the substances allegedly recovered.

Charges to Be Reviewed by PPS

Police said the charge against the 30-year-old will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service for Northern Ireland.

The PPS is Northern Ireland’s principal prosecuting authority. It considers evidence gathered by police and makes decisions about criminal prosecutions.
